Targeting specific DNA of Plasmodium may be effective in treating human malaria infection

Targeting a parasite's DNA could be a more effective way to combat malaria, new research from the University of Sheffield has revealed. Malaria is a serious infection which is spread by mosquitoes. Although the disease is preventable and treatable, it remains a major cause of death globally—the estimated number of malaria deaths in 2020 stood at 627,000.
