Wang Ben's team at Zhejiang University developed fluorine-containing polymer assembly drugs to achieve chemotherapeutic-immune cascade cancer therapy

Recently, Wang's research group from the Institute of Translational Medicine of Zhejiang University/The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University Medical College published a paper titled: Chemoimmunological Cascade Cancer Therapy Using <s:1> Assembly Nanomedicine.

This study reports a therapeutic strategy for reprogramming chemotherapy and immune cells by assembling drugs from co-carrying drug-gene fluorine-containing polymers. The polymeric assembly drug loaded with adriamycin induced immunogenic death of tumor cells, and reversed depletion of CD8+ T cells through small interfering RNA (siRNA), effectively exerting its anti-tumor immune effect. In both breast cancer and melanoma mouse models, polymer-assembled drugs showed enhanced effects on cancer immunotherapy and significantly inhibited tumor growth and metastasis.
